We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the wine and the song,
like the seasons, all have gone (till sep 2010 at least)

everyday u discover something new - 讲花语
as the above entry says....

今天我发现我的电脑可以写花语字! 这么好玩!

ok... i shall not torture everyone with my limited vocabulary, but i've decided that one of my new year resolutions will be to improve my pathetic mandarin.. pls feel free to converse with me in mandarin (disclaimer: my mandarin is painful to your ears)

all the chinese teachers who tried (and failed) to teach me chinese in the past would be so proud of me... although there's no way to recoup back all that money my mum spent on tuition dammit

LOL

besides... people say china is the next big thing... u never know when it will come in useful

7 more months
life is changing... for the better, somewhat. things are definitely looking brighter

7 more months to u know what, the start of my life as a productive citizen! just FYI, i've finally completed all the courses and im going to become an overpaid clerk that can drive military vehicles but it does not matter what i do, in 7 months, whether u are a ah gua ping clerk or a commando officer hero, we all go back to our normal lives and start becoming useful to society once again. hopefully i can achieve the ultimate goal of every NSF in army to have permanent stay out

besides this, there is chinese new year to look forward to, the long weekend, just a pity that valentine's day falls on chu yi, so i assume all the restaurants will be closed! no matter, can always cook (and realize why i would have never become a chef) and there are ang baos, food, new clothes, stephen chow movie reruns and irritating relatives to look forward to

as things finally look brighter, my angst is still very much alive and kicking (somehow i always have high blood pressure readings when i go to clinics, serious LOL. i think its hereditary) and i will still kick the ass of everyone who steps on my tail...

over the months, i realize how important having goals and incentives are to keep us moving and fulfilled. be it goals at work, study, family, relationships, they keep us motivated... this may sound corny esp coming from me, but dont ever stop dreaming because once u do u are screwed

anyway, i have succumbed to temptation and bought an iphone! its a bit old news and may sound abit stupid considering i can only use it on weekends and evenings (cant bring it into camp because its too technologically
advanced for the 3g army) but since its 7 more months, why not get the best phone on the market? i say this in all objectivity, it is seriously the best phone available in the market and i got it for quite a good deal with discounts here and there and what not. besides, its an apple!

apple has somehow managed to create this cult following around their brand the way coca cola has, and u can see why because they somehow know what their customers want and their products are really user-friendly and simple. compare to a windows or a sony ericsson which has alot of functions but u have to read the manual and become an expert before u finally learn to use all of them! kids nowsadays have short attention spans....

so anw to those contemplating, go buy an iphone... otherwise u not cool liao

happy ORD year!
hello to all who still bother reading this

i know i havent been updating due to lack of time and material (i've been reading nerdy books extensively, u need stuff to go in before stuff can come out). but anyway, quality over quantity i believe...

it is 2010 already, in a really long blink of an eye. although i wish september would come sooner rather than later, grudgingly i also admit that it is the adverse experiences that make u stronger. just like the guy in the movie Click, if i fast forwarded everything i would miss the good parts as well. at least i learn to appreciate the good things more. happiness is all relative... this is something i wouldn't want to make my kids go through though and i confirm will release all the pent up energy into whatever i do after this shit

at least in between all the incompetence and poor management in you know where, where i stay in and work 5.5 days but spend most of the time doing nothing, i managed to read quite a bit on nerdy stuff so ya

but anyway, hopefully 2010 will live up to all its promise (at least the 2nd half of 2010, which is obviously more important)... i'm quite kiasu and i've more or less planned everything that can be planned out, hopefully all goes well and may everything go smoothly for everyone too... huat ah!

coffee as an analogy of people
i was reading this interesting post somewhere and thought it related well... especially since its about my favourite drink.

coffee is like your personality. black, raw coffee is the cynical, angry straightforward, grumpy and edgy raw and unpretentious side of people. sugar and creamer (or milk) are the sweet and nice sides of people. lets review all the permutations....

black coffee represents an edgy and raw appearance, and a bitter kick when u drink it. notice how uncles at the coffeeshop always order black coffee, and order it "gao" or stronger??

someone i know who drinks black coffee with plenty of sugar has a very intimidating and somewhat harsh exterior, just like the coffee as it appears. but inside, once u get to taste the coffee, the person has compassion and a heart of gold.

for those who drink coffee with lots of creamer but no sugar, these are the guys whose appearance seem sweet and nice, but when u drink it, then the kick comes cos its damn bitter. some people seem quiet and don't reveal much at first, but once u get to know them better, u get to know both their bad and good true colours...

another person i know who drinks coffee with plenty of sugar and creamer, i feel represents someone with a sweet and nice exterior as well as interior. however, the edgy bitterness and kick of the coffee can still be tasted, so this person has his edgy side as well, although not as much.

For those who don''t drink coffee and usually have tea or milo, are the ones who are even sweeter in both appearance and personality. these guys probably don't have an edgier side and are all nice! although they could get a little boring...

as for those who like to drink starbucks with all the weird flavours (vanilla, chocolate, etc), these people are idealistic, like to look good and are ambitious. they like to live life to the fullest by trying all the different things that seem interesting

i found that these apply to the people i know...

myself, i drink coffee with lots of milk but no sugar... LOL!

ok, time to make another cup...
